Sam Stohner
Executive Officer, Organizational Development, Strategic Planning Services, Insurance Solutions & Services

Sam Stohner joined GuideStone in 2000 as Managing Director of Organizational Development and was elected Executive Officer of Organizational Development and Strategic Planning Services in 2002. In this role he oversees the work of the following areas: Strategic Planning and Project Management, Training and Development, Human Resources, Product Research and Development, Strategic Marketing and Communications. He also oversees Insurance Solutions & Services and serves as President of GuideStone Risk Management Co. and GuideStone Agency Services.

Mr. Stohner came to GuideStone Financial Resources from the position of Director of Human Resources at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Prior to joining Parkland, Mr. Stohner worked as a pension consultant with Benetech and as an investment account executive with Dean Witter Reynolds.

Mr. Stohner earned his bachelor of business administration and master of business administration degrees from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.




Jim Welch
Director of Property and Casualty

Jim Welch joined GuideStone in 1994 working in Finance & Accounting. He then served as Controller for nearly 6 years. In 2007, Mr. Welch moved to the position of Director of Property and Casualty Development.

Mr. Welch came to GuideStone Financial Resources from the position of Minister of Music & Youth at First Baptist Church of Bangs, TX. Prior to joining FBC Bangs, Mr. Welch worked as the Instructor of Business at Southwest Baptist University located in Bolivar, MO.

Mr. Welch earned his bachelor of science degree from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO and master of business administration degree from Drury University also located in Springfield. He received his master of arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Welch also attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where he received his Doctorate of Education. Mr. Welch is a Certified Public Accountant.




Gaelen Cole
Property and Casualty Program Manager

Gaelen Cole joined GuideStone in March 2008 as Property and Casualty Program Manager. Gaelen came to GuideStone with extensive experience in property and casualty insurance and alternative risk programs, most recently with Captive Resources, LLC in Schaumburg, IL. Prior to that he spent over twenty years with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in Novato, CA.

Gaelen earned his bachelors degree in mathematics and English from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA. He is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), and has associate certifications in Reinsurance and Insurance Accounting and Finance.




Bron Caddell
Sr. Manager Property and Casualty Sales

Bron Caddell joined GuideStone in November 2005 as Regional Manager of Insurance Marketing where he was responsible for working with churches and ministries to develop employee insurance benefit solutions. In January, 2008, he was named Senior Manager — Property and Casualty Sales, and serves as  the Vice President-Marketing for GuideStone Agency Services.

Prior to coming to GuideStone, Bron spent 18 years with State Farm Insurance companies in Dallas, Texas; Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Bloomington, Ill.; and Columbia, Mo. He owned a State Farm Agency in Mountain Grove, Mo., for seven years.

Bron earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing/management from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.




Cherika Latham
Cherika N. Latham
Attorney

Cherika Latham joined GuideStone Financial Resources in 2008 as in-house counsel. She came to GuideStone from First Southwest Company in Dallas, where she worked as a compliance officer in the securities industry.

In 2003, Cherika earned a bachelor's degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, concentrating on communications and business. She then obtained a law degree from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, in 2006.
