Commercial Property Coverage

Did you know?
There are more than 1.6 million reported fires each year. Thousands of these fires occur at worship centers, causing millions of dollars of damage. 1

Churches and ministries aren’t like other businesses … their property and casualty coverages should be different as well.

Most Commercial Property Coverage policies were written for businesses. As a church or ministry, you have unique considerations. That’s why the GuideStone Property and Casualty Program® provides protection specific to your needs.

What would you do if you had to replace:

  • Stained glass windows
  • Valuable or sacred objects, including artwork
  • Musical instruments such as grand pianos or pipe organs
  • Your sound system or light board
  • Computers

What if your building was destroyed by fire or a tornado and you weren’t able to collect offerings for several weeks while repairs were being made? What if the loss occurred over Christmas or Easter? What if one of your ministers' key rings was stolen, giving thieves access to your office building, worship center and storage areas? Commercial Property is the foundation of your insurance package. Your first consideration when insuring your property is the ability to continue ministering with minimal disruption — even in the event of a loss.

Commercial and Personal Property Coverages provide the basic protection you need for your buildings and personal property. Remember, though, that to ensure “ministry as usual” when the unexpected occurs, you’ll need to add additional coverages or endorsements. Our agents will work closely with you to help you select the coverages you need to protect your property — without paying for coverages you don’t need.

One size doesn’t fit all.
From stained glass windows to video and sound systems to pipe organs and keyboards, your church has risks that won’t likely be covered by a run-of-the-mill policy. The coverages you select will depend on your specific needs. For example:

  • What type of building do you have? Is it frame, masonry or fire resistant? This can make a difference in your rates.
  • Do you perform off-site ministries that require you to transport property such as a portable sound system? You need extra protection for property that is taken off-site.
  • Are you covered for lock and key replacement if you have a burglary?
  • What would you do if your offerings “disappeared”? Would your current coverages replace them?
  • Are you covered for inflation? Are your building valuations accurate?

Unfortunately, many churches don’t realize they aren’t adequately protected until a claim arises. At GuideStone, we strive to help you find coverage gaps before a claim arises.
