Jim Welch

Director of Property and Casualty

Jim Welch joined GuideStone in 1994 working in Finance & Accounting. He then served as Controller for nearly six years. In 2007, Mr. Welch moved to the position of Director of Property and Casualty Development.

Mr. Welch came to GuideStone Financial Resources from the position of Minister of Music and Youth at First Baptist Church of Bangs, Texas. Prior to joining FBC Bangs, Mr. Welch worked as the Instructor of Business at Southwest Baptist University located in Bolivar, Missouri.

Mr. Welch earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, and Master of Business Administration degree from Drury University also located in Springfield. He received his Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Welch also attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where he received his Doctorate of Education. Mr. Welch is a Certified Public Accountant.

John Murphy is a licensed insurance professional who can help you establish a protection plan tailored to your ministry’s specific needs. From helping you craft the right property and liability program to counseling you on risk management, he is committed to building a lasting relationship with your ministry.

John has served at GuideStone® since 2012 and was named Rookie of the Year by Brotherhood Mutual in 2013. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Auburn University. Before coming to GuideStone, John worked for an insurance company, providing risk management services.

In addition to helping clients, John plays an active role in his church and community by serving as a deacon and leading an annual mission trip as a part of Builders for Christ. John and his wife, Brittany, were married in 2009.

John has a passion to see local churches thrive, make disciples and impact the globe for Christ. He relies on biblical principles to guide him, which is reflected in his favorite Bible passage:

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death
(Romans 8:1–2, ESV).
